My Tea Break

Rediscovering Tea around the world

Pavillon de Thé by Joana Vasconcelos

From 26th of  May until 28th of October 2012, Waddesdon in collaboration with Christie’s, is the venue for a major outdoor exhibition of contemporary sculpture. The exhibition has been timed as a sculptural counterpoint to Waddesdon’s recent acquisition of Chardin’s Boy building a House of Cards.  It also builds on Waddesdon’s own commitment to contemporary art and its significant and growing collection of work, which includes pieces by Richard Long, Sarah Lucas, Michael Craig-Martin, Angus Fairhurst and Stephen Cox and the famous Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos with the ”Pavillon de Thé”.

“Pavillon de Thé” (2012) is a gigantic wrought-iron teapot with 5 meters height.

Tea Time. Fancy a beer?

Molson Coors Brewing Co, one of the world’s largest brewer, is introducing Coors Light Iced T.

Coors Light Iced T is being described as “Iced tea-flavored beer” with a citrus flavour, roughly 4% alcohol content and no caffeine.

CEO Peter Swinburn said that their idea is to mix the word’s most refreshing beer, Coors Light, with the world’s most refreshing non-alcoholic drink, ICED TEA, and they hope to attract the kind of drinkers who typically drink wine or cocktails instead of beer.

I tried Beer Tea in China and it was quite nice so would love to try this one as well but their launching this product in Canada first before rolling out to the other markets.

Happy Tea Time.

Panda Dung Tea – The world’s most expensive Tea

The world’s most expensive Tea is set to go on sale – and the secret ingredient is panda dung.

An Yanshi, an entrepreneur in southwest China, grows organic Tea in  Ya’an (Sichuan province) using tonnes of excrement from panda bears living at nearby breeding centres as a fertiliser. The unusual ingredient was chosen by Mr. Yanshi for its unique health qualities. It is believed that pandas, who live on a diet of wild bamboo, absorb only 30% of nutrients from their food, therefore, in theory, they excrete 70% of their diet’s goodness, thus creating the perfect nutrient-rich soil for Tea.

Mr. An describes the Tea as fragrant and smooth.

The Tea is about to be exported around the world and will cost £2,200 for 50g (16 cups) becoming the most expensive Tea in the world.

Happy Tea Break.
