My Tea Break

Rediscovering Tea around the world

Teapod: A small Tea shop in London Bridge

Teapod is a modern but cozy Teashop in Shad Thames near London Bridge. It has a very warm atmosphere with a wide range of Teas and Teapots in display. It sells and serves loose leaf Tea along with breakfast, lunch, and delicious cakes throughout the day.

The Tea is served with a timer and a card explaining your chosen Tea and the ideal time for infusion so that you can control it yourself. I really liked this as it educates people about the different types of Tea and infusion times. Prices are also quite reasonable starting at £2.20 for a pot for one person.

They have a range of 20 loose leaf Teas but you can also go for their hot speciality drinks: Matcha latte, Rooibos latte or the Spicy Chai Masala.

I’ve tried the Jasmine Dragon Pearls with the 70% dark chocolate brownie and it was a great combination. :)

Sing Tehus in Copenhagen

I just arrived from two days in Copenhagen and I obviously had to visit one of the local Tea shops. I decided to try Sing Tehus, a Danish /Japanese Tea House in the centre of Copenhagen.

The Tea menu is in Danish but you have a good variety of Tea choices from Hvid Te (White Tea); Grøn Te (Green Tea); Oolong Te; Sort Te (Black Tea); Te Med Aroma (Tea with Aroma) and Urte Tea (Herbal Tea).

The environment is very pleasant and calm with only a few tables available. You can also see how they brew the Tea which is always nice.

I chose a Lapsang Souchong from Formosa and my boyfriend chose a Green Oolong from Vietname. We both really enjoyed our Teas. The Oolong from Vietname was soft and refreshing with a delicate flowery aftertaste.   The Lapsang Suchong was robust, with its unique smoky flavour, but with a great balance. It was delicious…  We also chose the lemon and almond cake which was incredible with a very smooth texture.

The shop is amazing as well with the same great variety of Teas but also a wide rage of Tea accessories.

For more information about Sing Tehus you can visit them at Skindergate 25, 1159 Copenhagen , DK or go to their website http://singtehus.dk/

If you’re in Copenhagen this is definitely a nice place to enjoy your Tea Break.

Tea between Mountains

Last week I had the opportunity to travel around Switzerland, where you can find the most breathtaking places.

During the day we spent @ Interlaken, we had a real Tea Break in the middle of the mountains. What a scenario! I had an Oriental Beauty Oolong. I felt in peace and in harmony. It was amazing!

Music & Tea

Billy Corgan, the lead vocal and guitar of Smashing Pumpkins, is into TEA!

His latest project is to open a 1930s Chinese-style Tea house named “Zuzu’s or more formally Madame Zuzu’s Tea House”, in Highland Park, Chicago. In here all sorts of art and Tea come together. “It has a whimsical feel to it… it’ll feel like you’re stepping back in time in terms of space, but what we put into the space will change. My dream number is changing it 15 to 20 times a month where you’re inviting people to talk about film or have an open mic night.”.

Biblioteq Tea Shop @ Roma!

While wondering around the most amazing streets and little roads so full of character and history in Rome, I was very lucky to meet Claudio, the owner of a very nice and cool Tea Shop – Biblioteq Tea Shop. Here you can find Tea from all over the world and all the necessary accessories to make the perfect cup of Tea.

Claudio knows a lot about Tea and can advise you which Tea suits you better, according to your taste. I bought a chinese green Tea – Li Zi Xiang – and an Earl Grey with Italian Bergamote – Earl Grey Imperial. I am really curious to try these Teas once I get back home!

Tea for 2 @ Parede, Portugal

Today, I went to a lovely Teahouse in Parede (between Lisbon and Cascais), with my mum.

This Tea house offers, not only a variety of good quality Teas; but also many different pastries and natural juices.

We had really nice scones and I tried the Irish Cream Black Tea. I enjoyed it very much. The Tea is soft and sweet in flavour and it gave me energy for my spin bike class at the gym!!!

I’ve found this great interview from Kevin Rose (Social Entrepreneur and Tea Fan) with Jesse Jacobs, Founder of Samovar Tea Lounge.  During the video Jesse Jacobs explains his journey as an entrepreneur and how he started Samovar Tea Lounge

After a few years working long hours in the Tech industry, Jesse found himself with a need to get some more space and time in his life and found that through Tea. He created Samovar Tea with the mission of offering his customers a place to experience a ritual and find a window of mental space.

Tea Connection @ São Paulo

The last time I was in São Paulo a friend advised me to visit Tea Connection, a Tea shop & Delhi in Jardins. The owners are actually from Argentina where they already have 6 Teashops open.

This is a great spot! The atmosphere is cool, the menu is delicious and healthy and they offer a wide range of Tea and drinks. You can choose from a traditional Earl grey, a delicate lemon flower infusion, an original Orange Oolong ( Oolong from Taiwan with spanish orange) or even a spicy Indian Chai (a blend of black Tea with ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and red pepper).

Green Melon Ice Tea

I started with a Green melon ice Tea and a delicious salmon salad with a poached egg and finished with a Green Forest Tea – Green Tea from Yunnan with cranberries and rose petals. Highly recommended!

The deserts including the cheesecake and the “Scones da Vóvó” (Grandmother scones) looked absolutely amazing but I didn’t have time or stomach to try those. Next time!
